How long does it take to get my domain working?

It usually takes 24-48 hours for a domain to fully propagate through DNS. This however all depends on your isp it might update within minutes for your neighbor but take up to a week for you.

The reason for this is the local routers your isp runs off of update at different times. If you are on comcast or road runner cable it is very common for dns take a week or more to update.

What is the difference between parked, addon, and subdomains?

Addon Domains
An addon domain is a fully functional domain that can be created from within your control panel. Think of it as having multiple hosting packages all sharing the same control panel. You can give them email addresses, forwarders, and more the same way you do for your main domain on the account.

Where do I go to login to my control panel?

You go to http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel or http://yourIPaddress/cpanel

What are the incoming and outgoing mail server?

The server address for both the incoming (POP3 or IMAP) and outgoing (SMTP) mail servers is mail.yourdomain.com

The username is the full email address for the user. If you have trouble with '@' symbols, use '+' instead, as in user+yourdomain.com.

Information About Addon Domains

You cannot create an addon domain if your dns for the site you are trying to add hasn't prorogated yet.

To create an addon domain login to your cpanel and click "addon domains".

There are three fields cPanel asks for when creating an addon domain.

Designing emails to be opened

Each time we win the battle of deliverability, we face yet another; that is getting our emails opened. Yes it's true that opt-in permission lists can have more than double the open rate of 'blasts', but we still need to optimize our email design to incent the maximum number of people to open it.

Authentication vs. Reputation vs. Accreditation

ISPs are getting very serious in their efforts to stop spam. As email marketers, we need to stay on top of the game to ensure that our emails are being delivered. The three major 'technologies' affecting deliverability are authentication, reputation, and accreditation. But what are they? How do they differ? Do you need to implement all three?
