Recently someone asked me to take a look at their Google Analytics account. I gave them my Gmail address to obtain access, but it wasn't immediately obvious just how to grant me report viewing access (or administrative access for that matter). There are actually 2 ways to provide someone with access.
The Access Manager
The Access Manager should be used if you need grant or revoke access to one or more of the sits in your profile, as it provides an overall access view. To find the Access Manager, simply login to your Google Analytics account, and you'll see the link at the bottom left of the homepage.

This link will (obviously) take you to the Access Manager, where you can edit or delete any existing access users you've already entered. To add a new user, click "+ Add User"

You're taken to a page where you'll need to enter these three pieces of information:
- Email address (Must be a Google Account)
- First Name
- Last Name
Then select the access level. If they're not within your organization, you'll most likely grant them access to 'View reports only'. Otherwise, you may grant them access as an 'Account Administrator'.
Below that you'll see a list of the websites in your profile. Select the website(s) you wish them to access, and click 'Add »'. Now click 'Finish »', and that's it, they have access!
The Profile Settings
You can also grant/revoke access from the settings page for an individual website profile. In the Website Profiles list on the homepage (once logged in), click 'Edit' for a specific website. You're now on the Profile Settings page.
Scroll to the bottom, and you'll see "Users with Access to Profile":
![]()
Simply click the "+ Add User" link, and you're taken to a similar page as the Access Manager, however you no longer have to choose the website. Here you also have the option to "Grant access for existing User to Profile". If you click that, you're presented with a select menu of all the current users with access to your account, to save you the time of entering the data.
How the User Accesses Your Analytics
Once you've granted the user access, your website profile will appear in the "My Analytics Accounts:" at the right of the top orange bar.

They'll be able to quickly switch between viewing your account, and any other account they have access to.
